Leslie Kathryn Leathers

November 23, 1961 — October 11, 2019

Leslie Kathryn Leathers of Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 11, 2019 at the age of 57 at her home in Dallas. Leslie was born in Oklahoma City on November 23, 1961 to Timothy Marion Leathers and Harriet Frances Leathers.

Leslie is survived by her father, Timothy Leathers, her sister, Dana Leathers, her children, son Ryan Ellard, daughter Lauren Black and son Justin Black. She is predeceased by her mother Harriet Frances Leathers and her sister Sandra (Sandy) Leathers.

When she was a child, she loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed exploring the mountains.

Leslie adored her three children: Ryan, Lauren and Justin and like any proud parent she would often brag about their accomplishments. She had her own song: Ryan's and Tigers and Bears and sang it to Ryan every chance she got. She laughed all the time and had a great sense of humor.

Leslie was very proud of her parents and she would often remind others that both her father Tim and mother Fran had served in the USMC.

Leslie worked with her father Tim at DSC for several years and was recognized by management for her outstanding contributions.

As an adult, Leslie loved the holidays and loved to play dress up with her daughter, Lauren. Leslie and Lauren would try on evening gowns, laugh and spend quality time together while shopping and running errands. Ryan, Lauren and Justin meant the world to Leslie.

Leslie loved adventure. In her 40's Leslie moved to Alaska and worked on a fishing boat. Listening to Leslie recount her time on the fishing boat, one came away with the impression that Leslie had been a cast member on The Deadliest Catch. Leslie wasn't afraid to try ANYTHING and was always looking for the next adventure.

Leslie loved to give presents to everyone. She always had a little something to give to her family or people she just met. One of the things Leslie liked to do was help the homeless. Leslie gave to those who had nothing and showed those around her that selfless acts of kindness were meaningful and brought smiles to the faces of those she helped. This year Leslie discovered 3 boxes of sweatshirts and made her sister Dana hand out those sweatshirts to the homeless during a heavy downpour.

Leslie had a precious heart and you knew she loved you. She used to say bloom where you're planted, and she did exactly that. She was a Christian and she knew Jesus.

Leslie would always leave you with, "Bye for now, give me a kiss".
