Leonora Doris Mary Whitehead

Leonora Doris Mary Yates Willis Whitehead, 87, of Princeton, Texas passed away peacefully in her residence at Princeton Medical Lodge on February 4, 2025. 

Leah, as she was fondly known as, was born in Nottingham, England, and raised in Ipswich, England. Where she and her sister, Helen Stannard were raised by her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kape, during the World War II era. They gave them a wonderful, loving home.

Her favorite color was yellow and she loved to buy fresh flowers every week and displayed them in her home. She was extremely fond of feeding the birds and squirrels and would sit for hours watching them. She was deeply religious and loved going to different churches. She loved talking to everyone and she was fiercely independent. 

Leah is survived by her loving son, Andrew C. Nance Whitehead, and his wife Sarah M. Whitehead, her two sisters Helen Yates Stannard and Angela Yates Whately, and her sister-in-law, Jean Kape.

Her Grandchildren are Tonya Edwards and her husband Brian Edwards, Daniel Whitehead and his wife Chandra Whitehead, Jared Whitehead and his wife Janna Whitehead. 

Her Great Grandchildren are Andrew Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Sabrina Edwards, Robin Edwards, Amber Edwards, Brian Edwards Jr. and his wife Aunda Edwards, Rebekah Whitehead, Benjamin Whitehead, Alyssa Whitehead, Rachel Whitehead, Sophie Whitehead, Vivian Whitehead, Paxton Biggs, and Maddox Biggs. She is also survived by her Great-Great Grandbabies, Rhys Ingram-Edwards and Zoey Edwards. She has so many cousins, nieces, and nephews who love and miss her as well. 

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kape, her sister Majorie Leach, her son Richard Christopher Whitehead, and her 3 husbands, Harold Nance, Richard D. Whitehead, and Collin Willis.

She was well loved by her friends and staff at Princeton Medical Lodge; especially Rodney Bryom and Mark Shatka. 

All of the family are especially grateful to the staff at Princeton Medical Lodge and Hospice for all the extra care and support that they gave to her.


We will be having an open house celebration of life, so stop by and have a bite, something to drink, and share a Leonora story on:

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

At 431 Skaggs Lane, Whitewright, TX

A ceremony scattering of the ashes at Lake Lavon will take place at a later date.
