Lennie Hickerson

Lennie "Len" Hickerson Jr.,76, of Princeton, Texas died October 10, 2020 in his sleep while in the loving care of Faith Presbyterian Hospice. He was born on May 11, 1944 to Mildred (Allensworth) and Lennie Hickerson Sr in Marblehead, Illinois the youngest of 3 children.

After attending school at Payson High School Len went to work with his father at the family garage where he developed his love of working on engines and tinkering with tractors. He went on to work for St. Mary's Hospital in maintenance and then furthered his education in heating and AC repair. He remained in the heating and AC field until his retirement. Retirement didn't suit Len and he pursued his passion again with heavy machinery and began driving a bus for Durham Transportation. Len acquired many meaningful friendships while transporting children for the McKinney School District.

Len developed a passion for tractors early on. He went on to enjoy tractor pulls and took joy in working on his projects. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Debbie Oberdahlhoff was his former spouse and the mother of his children Kevin, Todd, Cory and Chad. On June 9, 2007 Len Married Nancy Battaglini who he went on to enjoy his retirement years with.

In addition to his parents, Len was predeceased by a sister, Dorthy Reddick a daughter in law, Christe, and a granddaughter in law Christina.

Len is survived by his wife Nancy and her children Rodney Battaglini (Angie) and Rhonda Battaglini (Dell Ring); his sons Kevin, Todd (Beverly), Cory (Amanda) and Chad; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. One brother Jim (Beverly), sister in law Cheryl Whipkey (Fred), brother in law John Wood (Linda).

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home 660 East Highway 380, Princeton, TX 75407. There will be a family visitation immediately following the service at "The Pantry" at 214 E Louisiana street McKinney, TX.
