Lena Beatrice (Dillard) Loyd known to everyone as Bea, to her family as Mom, Nanny and Nanny Bea was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and all those who proceeded her on Thursday January 23, 2025, she was 87 years old.
Bea was born January 08, 1938 in Upshur County, Texas as the only child of Albert Bruce and Roger Lee (McClelland) Dillard during the grips of the great desperation and subsequence years of sacrifice, rationing and lack brought on by the war effort of WWII. She attended High School in Gilmer, Texas and meet her husband Jackie in 1954. They were married on May 20, 1955 in Gilmer, Texas. They moved on to Dallas soon after in 1955. They had 2 sons, David and Chris. They moved to Garland in 1959 to raise their little family where they stayed until 2003 before retiring to Lavon, Texas and joining the First Baptist Church of Lavon and finding many wonderful, loving and caring people who they loved the comfort of their company.
Before moving to Garland in 1959 they were members of the First Baptist Church-Urbandale in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas where they meet their life long friends Tom and Ethelyn Amyx whose family they traveled with almost every year. Bea, Ethelyn and Ethelyn’s sister Peggy decided they’d branch out and take a job together after their kids were a little older with the Richardson Independent School District food service at a neighborhood elementary school in the late 1960’s. Bea became a food service director with the school district and later a dietician at Medical City Hospital in Dallas where she later retired from.
Bea had many friends and hobbies. She enjoyed sewing. Making dresses, quilts, bedspreads and much more for her family and friends. She loved decorating her home for all the seasons and holidays and volunteering at her church. She especially loved traveling, outings with her many girlfriends and vacationing with family.
Bea is preceded to her entering into Glory by her husband Jackie and son Chris. Survived by son David and wife Sandy, daughter in-law Melissa, grandchildren David Elliott, Ashley Nichelle and Christopher Phillip, great-grandson Landon Alexander Stephens and sister in-law Peggy Collier.
