Lelda Avon Megert

Lelda Avon Megert, 87, of McKinney, Texas passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013. Lelda was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on November 4, 1925 to George and Roxie Henshaw. She enjoyed many years of membership at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen. Lelda was a regular at the McKinney Senior Center where she spent a great deal of time volunteering. The most special memory that the family has of Lelda is their Saturday night taco tradition. The family gathered every Saturday and had tacos together. Many special memories were made during these times spent together. Lelda is survived by her children, George Megert, John Megert, Charlotte (Ron) Waters, Gary Megert and Robert (Karla) Megert; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl August Megert, her mother Roxie Davis, her father, George Henshaw and her brother Virgil Henshaw. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 601 S Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Service will be officiated by Reverend Dennis George. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Joyus Senior Adult Ministry at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church.
