LaVonda Shae Blakey Bass

LaVonda Shae Blakey Bass, born in Marshall, Texas on September 1, 1967, excitedly laughed out loud when she was reunited with her dad at Heaven’s gate on February 12, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steve; her beautiful daughter, Brooklyn; her bonus son Preston; and her loving mother, Treva Hines Bray. A shining light to her family, LaVonda highly cherished her role as a wife and a mother. 

A proud resident of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, LaVonda was a kind and generous member of her community. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of everyone she met, from the medical field to the spiritual, and even extended her kindness to her beloved chickens. We ask for all to celebrate her life by continuing to pay it forward with kindness as she always exemplified.

‘Vonda was the beautiful, loving, older sister to Amanda Frye, Darla Pound, Dana Curry, Brook Blakey, and Audria Kee. Not only did she treasure her siblings, but she also adored and doted over her many nieces and nephews. Her constant reminders to stand on the Word of God will forever be a blessing and fruit of life to all her family. A red head with a golden heart, she accomplished her mission: to minister to all around her. 

LaVonda Shae was preceded in death by her father Larry Edward Blakey. The celebration of her beautiful life will be held on what would have been her dad’s birthday, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:30 pm. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm. Hosting her celebration is Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2343 Gage Rd., Lavon, TX 75166; interment to immediately follow.
