BENZINE, Laura Ella - Passed with peace and grace on January 23, with her family at her side. Laura was dearly loved by her devoted husband Richard, son Larry (Sandy) of Antlers, Oklahoma, daughter Lori (Barry) Parks of Princeton, Texas, and son-in-law (George) McMullen of West, Texas; grandchildren: Mae Ann Hefner, Angie (Troy) Griffin, Heith (Ellen) Benzine, Aaron (Misty) Benzine, Audie (Kevin) Hartman, and Allyson Parks; great grandchildren: Christen, Paige, Zoe, Gentry, Ryder, Avery, Kale, Troupe, Paxton, Bradi, and Brantley; numerous siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, plus many loyal and caring friends. Her loving daughter Lou Ann McMullen, preceded her.
Laura was born in Masonville, Iowa. She later met and married Richard in Waverly, Iowa, and then threw her energies into raising their children. Open to all neighboring friends, her kitchen was never closed. She and Richard retired in Princeton. In addition to their many travels, she was an artist creating many beautiful pieces in woodwork, crochet, gardening and cooking. She loved to watch cooking channels and talent programs along with her soap operas. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching football and baseball. She will be always remembered as a loving wife, devoted sister, nurturing mother, and playful grandmother.
The family wishes to thank the Allen Presbyterian Hospital ICU staff Dr. Jon, Jennifer, Annie, Jennifer, Pam (respiratory therapist) & Shannon (ER) as well as The Belmont Nursing Home Therapy Center for their care. The family would also like to acknowledge the Honorary Pallbearers: Arnie Adalaniz, Charlie Bryson, John Carlisle, Jack Diericks, Bobby Ousley, George Richards, and Bob Reiner.
Granny (also known as Babe) leaves us fulfilled with memories of life’s simple pleasures such as the pure joy of family and friends.A service will be held at the Cowboy Church of Collin County, 2800 FM 3364, in Princeton, Texason Saturday January 28, at 1 pm.
