Kevin Charles McCleary

Kevin Charles McCleary, husband, father, son, brother, friend, but most importantly, a disciple of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 3, 2017. He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Holly Marie (Modglin) McCleary, sons Lucas Wayne, Maxwell Charles, and Jason Thomas, all of Prosper, TX, parents Bill (Nancy) McCleary of Cisco, IL and Jeanne Murphy of Farmer City, IL, grandparents Bill and Moneta McCleary of Mansfield, IL, brothers Bryce (Laura) McCleary of Monticello, IL and Mark (Jessica) McCleary of Fishers, IN, father and mother-in-law Wayne and Debbie Modglin of Neoga, IL, sister-in-law Mandy (John) Keck of Bloomington, IL, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.He was born on April 11, 1978 in Springfield, IL and grew up in Clinton, IL, graduating from Clinton Community High School in 1996. He then attended Lake Land Community College where he met his wife and graduated from Eastern Illinois University. He was employed by State Farm Insurance. Kevin was a member of Prosper United Methodist Church.Kevin was a loving and devoted husband and father who thoroughly enjoyed supporting his sons’ numerous activities. His children made him immensely proud and he was enthusiastic about all of their endeavors.Kevin served as a coach and mentor for several of their sports teams, which was a special role that touched the lives of so many young men in addition to his own boys. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rufus and Mary McLean and step-father, Gene Murphy. His family and friends were blessed by his sense of humor, positive outlook, work ethic, and his devotion to God. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 14 at 2:00 pm at Prosper United Methodist Church in Prosper, TX.Memorials may be made to Holly McCleary for the college funds of their sons.
