Kenneth Fay Vanzant, 91, passed away on July 13th 2024 with his family by his side. He was born on November 21, 1932 in Compton California to Henry and Evalyn Vanzant. Part of his childhood was spent in California before his family relocated to Northwest Arkansas in the late 1940's. Ken attended high school in Springdale, Arkansas and upon graduating joined the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War aboard the USS Capricornus AKA57.
After serving, Ken began his career when he went to work for Skaggs Drug Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
His starting position led to a 38 year career with Skaggs, holding many management positions due his strong work ethic.
He retired in 1992 after an illustrious career with many accolades.
In Ken's lifetime, he touched many lives. Throughout his life, he showed commitment to service and communities.
Ken was a business leader that mentored hundreds of individuals impacting their careers and families. Ken also was a devout Christian in his later life and spent his time, talents and treasures impacting his local community with his service to Willowcreek Fellowship, Salvation Army, Focus on the Family and other organizations. Ken generously has donated his life estate to the National Christian Foundation in hopes to continue to impact lives even beyond his time here on earth. Ken has touched so many lives through his generosity. Ken had many hobbies that he enjoyed in his retirement. Ken loved to trout fish and spent many hours in his woodworking shop.
Ken is preceded in Death by his first wife of 55 years, Nina Vanzant, stepson James Moreau, sister Patricia Deen, niece Pamela Backmaw, nephew Chuck Gay and great nephew Trevor Lopez.
Ken is survived by his wife, Peggy Vanzant, and stepchildren Steven Moreau (Jennifer), Charles Moreau (Katie), Pamela Moreau (wife of James), Melanie Moreau, niece Patti Gay, great nieces and nephews Samantha Wood (Chris), Natalie Gay, Dominic Lopez (Lacey) and Anthony Gay (Julianne).
