Kenneth Bertrand (Bert) Freeman passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Born in Stratford, Oklahoma, on January 26, 1928 to Frank Freeman and Dorothy Potter Freeman, Bert later served his country by joining the Army Air Corps in 1946. After that, he met the love of his life, Doris Joan Freeman and they married on August 6, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas.
Together, they raised two wonderful children, Steve and Lea Ann. Bert enjoyed spending time with his family, working in the yard, and watching the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He was a simple, hard-working man who could fix anything and saved everything.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris Joan Freeman of Garland, Texas; son, Steve and wife, Wrenda of Corsicana, TX; and daughter, Lea Ann and husband David Cannon of Plano, TX. Bert was also most affectionately known as "Gran Gran" to some very special people in his life, being his grandchildren, Blake Cannon of Hernando, MS, Cameron Cannon and wife Liz of Denver, CO; Alec Cannon of Plano, TX, David McCathern of Moore, OK, Hunter Freeman, and Abbey Freeman, both of Corsicana, TX; five great-grandchildren, A.J., Claire, Katelynn, Hazel, and Violet; and dear friends, John and Lisa Way of Garland, Texas.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas.
