Kattie Louise Posey of McKinney, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2011 at the age of 85. She was born to Luther and Bernice (Ray) King in Dallas, TX on February 19, 1926. Kattie grew up in the Dallas area. She married James Hamilton Alexander I in 1942 and raised 4 children. She later married James Andrew Posey in 1964 and raised a daughter. Kattie was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney for the last 12 years and First Baptist Church of Lake Dallas and Bible Baptist Church in Lake Dallas for the 30 years prior.
Kattie was a life-long baseball fan and cheered the Texas Rangers from their inception thru their second World Series appearance. She is survived by sisters Ariementa Yochum of Duncanville, Virginia Kirby and husband Bill of Palmer, brother Henry King of Latrobe, Pa., daughters Kattie Honey of Red Oak, Anita Doty and husband Richard of McKinney and sons James Alexander II of Burleson, Robert Alexander and wife Judy of Valley View. Grandchildren Kathy Honey, Christine Otts, Darrell Jaynes, Danna Bulvan, Robert Alexander Jr., Tana Schneider, James Alexander, Benjamin Doty, and Alexander Doty; 9 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren; several other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, James Alexander I, James Posey and daughter Barbara Jaynes.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St. in McKinney, Texas, 972-562-7788.
Funeral Service will be held at Waddill Street Baptist Church, 1401 N. Waddill Street, McKinney, Texas, 75069 on Saturday, November 5,2011 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Woody Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas.
Donations may be made in her name to the Waddill Street Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
