Kathy Gail Pollard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 72 in Dallas, Texas, the city where she was born and raised.
Kathy graduated from Bryan Adams High School and met the love of her life, Dennis Pollard, Jr., while participating in the work program during her senior year. Dennis had just started on staff at the CPA firm after completing his service in the Navy. This was his first job as he began his career, and together, Kathy and Dennis would later build a lifelong partnership, not only in marriage but also in business. They owned and operated their accounting practice, where Kathy’s warmth and humor made every client feel like family. She found great joy in her work, creating lasting friendships with those she served.
In addition to her and Dennis’s business, Kathy worked part-time for 18 years as a teller for Bank of America. Her dedication to customer service was so well regarded that clients would wait in line specifically for Kathy to handle their transactions. Her commitment to excellence earned her an award for Teller of the Year in the DFW region during her time at the bank, a testament to her dedication to her customers and her craft.
Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She took immense pride in spoiling her family and was a pillar of love and strength to all who knew her. Her granddaughter, Jordan—affectionately known as “Punkin”—was especially dear to her, and Kathy loved attending all of Jordan’s events. Kathy never met a stranger, and her generous spirit was evident in the way she loved to serve others, whether through her church or in her community. She had a deep faith and often spoke of her love for God, knowing with certainty she would be welcomed into heaven. Kathy and Dennis were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Garland, where she cherished the fellowship of her Sunday school and the community of believers.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Pollard, Jr., her son Trey Pollard and his wife Rebecca, her granddaughter Jordan Pollard, and her sister-in-law Gwen Goodrich. Kathy is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Eugene Walker, mother Opal Walker, uncle Bill McDonald, aunt Veda McDonald, cousin Charles Howard and his wife Margie, and cousin Bud Howard.
Kathy’s passion for genealogy was well known, and she spent countless hours researching family history, often seeking out public libraries while on vacation. Her dedication to uncovering the stories of her ancestors was just one example of her endless curiosity and love for family connections. Kathy also loved working outside, and she took great pride in keeping her flower beds immaculate.
A visitation for Kathy will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 801 W Avenue D, Garland, TX 75040, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
Kathy will be laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211, on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.
Kathy’s presence brought light to every room, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
