Kathleen Lanelle "Kathy" Masterson

Kathleen Lanelle Masterson (Nana) was born on April 24, 1953 and passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2021.

"Kathy" was born at Samson Air Force Base in New York. She was an "Air Force Brat" along with her twin brother Bill and older brother Jim. As a child, she got to "see the world" as they say because of her father Vern's Air Force moves. Her favorite place to live was her beautiful Germany, which she spoke of often. Kathy's family lived in San Antonio while her father served in the war in Vietnam.

After Vern retired from the Air Force, they settled in Mesquite Texas, where Kathy met and married her husband, Robert Masterson, of almost 51 years. Robert and Kathy bought a house in Mesquite where Kathy raised three children; Michelle, Nathan and Jeffery. Early in their marriage, Kathy would hunt and fish with her husband Robert. Then she learned to quilt, which became her new favorite past time. She made many awesome quilts for her family and friends.

In 2004, Robert, Kathy and Robert's mother, Sybil moved to Garland, Texas where Kathy enjoyed 15 years of healthy life with her family and two dogs, Tinky and Twinkie. As her health deteriorated, she was cared for by many home-health workers, her daughter Michelle, granddaughter Lacie, Robert's mother, Sybil and her very special aide, Simone Scott.

Her husband Robert says, "her passing has left an enormous hole in my heart but please don't mourn for Kathy for she is healthier and more alive today than she has ever been."

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert, her three children Michelle, husband John Ferguson, Nathan and wife Mary and son Jeff and wife Jodi, her mother-in-law Sybil, sister-in-law Soozie Stone, twin brother Bill and wife Tammy, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a plethora of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kathy's celebration of life Memorial Service will be on December 18, 2021 at Calvary Hill Baptist Church at 3300 LaPrada, Mesquite, TX 75150 with Visitation at 12:00 Noon and service beginning at 1:00 pm.

Flowers can be sent to Eastgate Funeral Home at 1910 Eastgate Dr., Garland, TX 75041.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Genesis Women's Shelter & Support or Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation.
