Kathleen MacLeod Abbott, born December 17, 1957, passed away at age 64 on June 12, 2022.
Born in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of Charles A. MacLeod and Barbara M. MacLeod.
Kathy was employed as a document specialist for the banking and land records industries.
She enjoyed camping in cabins, walking, gardening, reading Danielle Steel, examining the stars in the sky, and old black-and-white horror movies.
Point to a light in the night sky and she could tell whether it was a star or a planet and possibly tell you its name.
Kathy was a FCC approved amateur radio operator with a FCC call sign of KF5UEI and was a past and current member of the Sachse Amateur Radio Association, the Richardson Wireless Klub, and the Garland Amateur Radio Club.
Kathy was strong but never missed an opportunity to make people laugh.
Kathy's death was preceded by her parents: Charles A. MacLeod and Barbara M. MacLeod, and by her siblings: Susan MacLeod, Sara (Sally) MacLeod, Cameron J. MacLeod and Grace MacLeod Wheelan.
Kathy is survived by her husband of almost 17 years, John M. Abbott, her siblings: Terese (Teri) MacLeod McLane, Julie MacLeod Meade, Diane MacLeod Crandall, and Charles MacLeod; her children: Craig (Kasey) Gormley and Christopher (Joy) Gormley and her step-children: James (Lisette) Abbott, Loie (Eric) Smith and Melanie (Alford) Wilson, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many other loving family members.
We find comfort knowing she is no longer in pain and at peace with God.
We are having a party for Kathy on Wednesday, June 22 from 2-4 PM in the gymnasium of Freeman Heights Baptist Church, at 1120 North Garland Avenue, Garland, Texas 75040. Please dress comfortably and join us as we say goodbye.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
