Karen McKown

McKown, Karen Ann was born April 16, 1954 in Dallas, TX to Clovis Attoway Alford and Rita Delores Middleton. Karen graduated from W. W. Samuel HS and briefly attended Eastfield Jr College. She lived in Texas her entire life. Karen met and then married Johnny Lynn McKown on August 1, 1992. Together they moved to Lavon and began a little farm of horses, goats and button quail. Karen's true passions in life were her animals and family. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for someone she loved.

In her later years, she worked at Kroger demonstrating new products and recipes. Karen was exceptional in this position because everyone she met was an immediate friend. She was fun-loving and just a little wacky. Her energy was captivating. Spending a day with Karen guaranteed laughter and good memories.

Mrs. Karen McKown received her wings on August 15, 2021. She is survived by her spouse of 29 years, Johnny Lynn McKown, her 3 children: Tammy Alford (David Henson) , Kenneth Lattig (Billie Reeves), and Jerry Lattig ( Kristi Saunders); her 8 grandchildren: Steven, Alicia, Cara, Sebastian, Austin, David, Autumn and Kaiden; her 1 great-grandchild: Kenneth and another on the way. Karen is preceded in death by her father, "Buddy" Alford, her aunt Joan Cantrell and her brother, Billy Alford.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her husband, Johnny, for being her caregiver in the last days of her life. We would also like to thanks the nurses of Medical City of Mckinney ICU (Kayla) for the excellent loving attention in Karen's last hours.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 22nd at 2pm at Charles Smith and Sons Funeral Home
