Julian Martinez

January 28, 1939 — April 28, 2017

Our pops, Julian Rodriguez Martinez age 78, provider and loving husband of 47 years is survived by his wife Gracie and children Jinny Brewer, Marcella Rodriguez, Julio Martinez, Julian Jr. Martinez and
Joshua Martinez. He had 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He never wanted to leave his
beloved wife’s side but God’s calling was stronger! He left this place we call Earth on April 28, 2017
for a heavenly divine place set aside for him surrounded by all of his family! He fought the good fight
of faith and ran his race until the end!
He loved to dress up and when he did, boy was he sharp! He paired his outfit with a set of Stacy
Adams with which he had multiple to choose from! He kept a shine on them that would make a Marine
proud and he kept them stored in tube socks to keep the dust off of them. His shoes were off limits to
everyone. You could look but don’t touch! A collector of fine tools that if you were lucky enough maybe
he’d let you borrow one or two but most of the time you weren’t that lucky! And stay away from his
ladders! Even in his old age when he could no longer use his tools he kept his top prized tools next to
him, hidden underneath his bed or in his closet! He kept the Dollar General store, down the road, in
business buying all sorts of candies and gum! Famous for popping his chewing gum even though we
couldn’t do it growing up without getting hollered at! He enjoyed cooking and barbecuing even if it was just for him and my mom. Even more so because it was the smokers and grills he fabricated himself. He had a life-long affair with sweets, ice cream, Mrs. Baird’s cupcakes, honeybuns, Little Debbie cakes and Suzy Q’s! Lol. Oh yeah and who can forget peanuts and coke or better yet crumbled up bread slices in a glass of milk! The lessons taught by my Pop’s are too numerous to list without writing a book! He will forever be loved and missed but never forgotten because we all have a little piece of him in us! We are all blessed to have had him in our lives! We will forever be grateful! Rest in peace Pop’s until we meet again! Love you!
