Juanita Winslow

June 17, 1922 — March 5, 2019

Juanita Winslow, age 96, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at home with her family. She was born on June 17, 1922 in Taft, Texas to Merced Mireles and Romana Colunga Mireles.

Juanita grew up in Taft, and married Burl Lee Winslow on August 28, 1964. She was a wonderful mother, wife, homemaker, confidante, and friend to many. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Immaculate Conception Church, and her favorite thing to do was set up the Nativity every year. She moved to Wylie, Texas with her son, Joseph and his family in 2005. She was a devout parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she made many friends who became family. She adored her church family; she spoke of them often and fondly. She loved her birthdays at Taste of Home in Wylie very much. Juanita truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; gardening, chatting with friends and family, snacking all day, and spending time with her family. She loved the house being full of laughter and joy, so she embraced the time she spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Lee Winslow; two sons, Juan and Jesus De Los Santos; her siblings, Epifanio, Placido, and Louisa Mireles; and her parents, Merced Mireles and Romana Colunga Mireles.

Juanita is survived by her son Joseph (Amy) Winslow; sister Helen Trevino; grandchildren, Anastasia Marie Winslow, Michael Anthony Winslow, Joseph Timothy Winslow, Iliana Gabrielle Winslow, Johnathan Besinaiz, and John Anthony De Los Santos; countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and life-long friends.

A visitation and Rosary will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Charles W. Smith & Sons in Sachse, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 15, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Church, in Taft, TX. with Fr. John McKenzie, officiating. Burial will follow at Taft Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Charles W. Smith & Sons and Ritchea Gonzales Funeral Home.
