**Thursday, December 13th, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Joy Faye Housewright went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88.
Joy was born Monday, June 30th, 1930 in Wylie, Texas to L.G. and Iva Maynard.
Joy grew up in Wylie where she played basketball and she was Football Sweetheart before graduating Wylie High School. Joy married her late husband, Mickey Housewright, on October 26th, 1946 at the age of 16. They spent 66 wonderful years together!
Joy will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her smile was enough to lift anyone's spirit and her unconditional love was felt by all who knew her. Joy was a huge Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching the games with her family. In her younger years, she had a passion for the outdoors, fishing and camping to name a few. She was a lover of all things chocolate and an avid wordsearcher who didn't like to miss her daily dose of General Hospital!
Joy is preceded in death by her father L.G. Maynard, mother Iva Maynard, son Gregory Jay Housewright and husband Mickey Housewright.
Joy is survived by brother Troy Maynard, her three daughters Sherry Bacher (Buddy), Vickie Turner (Michael), Penny McDonald (Brad), three grandchildren Tiffany, Drew, Mariah and 2 great grandchildren Grace and Thea along with several nieces and nephews.
