Joseph Donald "Don" Webb, 71, went to be with the Lord, on February 12, 2014. He was born September 8, 1942 in Jasper, Tennessee, the son of Walter and Blanche Webb. He was valedictorian of the Marion County High School, Jasper Tennessee, class of 1959. Don was a 1963 honors graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and earned a master's degree, with honors, from Abilene Christian University at Dallas in 1981. He was a proud veteran, serving as an officer in the United States Army Chemical Corps. Don worked as Chief Chemist for the Jones-Blair Company in Dallas, TX for 31 years beginning in 1967. During his tenure at Jones-Blair, Don developed computerized color matching (US Patent US4813000), an invention that forever changed the coatings industry.
Don was a gifted vocalist, guitar player, and the founder and leader of the musical group "The Old Guys", that played Dallas area weddings, parties, and events throughout the '80s and '90s. Don enjoyed music, golf, fiction novels, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
Don attended Saint David's Episcopal Church in Garland, TX serving as its Senior Warden from 1994 - 1996. Don later was a member of The Church of The Holy Nativity in Plano, TX with his wife Pinkie and his in-laws Bill and Roberta Backvold.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Blanche Webb of Jasper TN; brother Walter "Jack" Webb of Arizona; sister Elizabeth "Lib" Wester of Jasper, TN; brother Harbert "Pete" Webb of Knoxville, TN; brother Charles "Ed" Webb of Hixon, TN; brother James "Jimmy" Webb of Jasper, TN; and sister Nancy "Carolyn" Turner of Jasper, TN.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Coral "Pinkie" Webb of Garland TX; son Patrick Webb, and his wife Tanya, of Layton, UT; son Michael Webb, and his wife Elizabeth, of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Natalie, Joey, Emily and Billy Webb; sister Margaret "Susie" Hannah of White, GA; brother Ronald "Doug" Webb of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at The Church of The Holy Nativity, 2200 18th St, Plano TX at 11 AM. Interment Services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX at 10:30 AM.
