Joseph Russell Leonard (born December 20, 1956), 64, of Garland, TX went to Heaven on October 05, 2021 after a brief illness. He was united in marriage to Kathy Ann Dunlevy on April 11, 1992 in Dallas Fort Worth, TX.
Joseph lived his younger years in Mount Pleasant, Iowa graduating from the Community High School. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980 earning a degree in Industrial Technology. He later earned his Master of Business Administration Degree at Amber University.
Joseph worked in many different industries as an Engineering Consultant in Systems and Processes. He was always up for a big challenge and took pride in delivering innovative solutions. He believed in having the correct tools for the job and his many tool chests proved this. He always had several projects in the queue with the latest being the refurbishing of a 1980's Airstream trailer.
Joseph was active in the Boy Scouts of America and church. His hobbies as a woodworking craftsman, building furniture and camping enthusiast with the family were highlights in his life. He especially enjoyed his family and friends celebrating through great meals with cooking and barbequing, stories and laughter. He was a wonderful role model as a husband, father, friend and child of God.
Joseph is survived by his wife Kathy and son Christopher, Garland TX, brother Chris Leonard (wife Sharon), Waterloo, IA, his sister, Nancy Leonard Duncan (husband David) of Cedar Rapids, as well as nephews, Patrick Leonard, Stephen Duncan, and niece, Jessica Duncan. He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Leonard; mother, Patricia Leonard of Mt. Pleasant and brother Steve of Holly Lake Ranch, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Alzheimer's Association, The Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
The service celebrating Joseph's life will be held at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home located at 2925 Fifth St., Sachse, TX 75048 on October 23rd. Visitation starts at 10am with the Celebration of Life Service at 12noon.
