Joseph Jones, of Sachse, Texas passed on May 6, 2015 at his home after courageously fighting an extended illness. He was surrounded by love at the time of his death, and he continued to embrace the beauty of life until the time of his passing.
Joseph was born March 16, 1954 in Fresno, California to Ida Mae Wade. He spent his primary years surrounded by the love and support of his family, and he eventually attended Edison High School in Fresno, California.
At age 18, Joseph began working as a welder for The Vendo Company in Fresno, California. He remained a faithful employee for over 30 years. Even after retirement, Joseph continued to be productive, motivated, and adventurous. He moved to Sasche, Texas where he worked for several years in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He enjoyed basketball, traveling, automobiles, being outdoors and in nature, architecture, music, good eating, and being with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Sandra Jones; two daughters, Anita Jones and Cynthia Jones; step-daughter Jennifer McLean, his brothers, Daniel McLemore, Benjamin Jones, and Alvin Adkins; sisters, Olivia Whittle and Ruby Coleman; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Wade, brother, Aaron Adkins, and sister Ophelia Jones.
Joseph will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, Texas 75048
