Johnny was born in Cookeville, Texas, he was 1 of 17 children and the 2nd oldest son. He grew up in East Texas and moved to Irving at 16 to live with older sisters, Gay and Dorothy.
He met his wife of 49 ½ years, Jackie, while working as a mechanic and she as an executive secretary at Jim Allee Oldsmobile off of NW HWY. They didn’t date very long before they knew they wanted to marry and eloped.
Johnny was a self-taught master mechanic. He could look at a motor and diagnose it without even running a test. He worked hard to establish a trustworthy and dependable name for himself and opened his own shop in Sachse in 1993---known as Sachse Service Center.
Johnny’s passions were his kids, grandkids and restoring old cars. He also loved a good game of dominos or cards.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie. Daughter Kaci and husband Mike, son Blake and wife Ali, son Cole and wife Kayla, nephew James Easley and wife Jennie and Jeff Easley and wife Carmen. His greatest joys, his grandchildren are Kade 19, Krew 12, Tucker 10, Kash 9, Wyatt 9, Jase 8, Randi 7, Carson 5 and Walker 2. When they came along, his name changed to Bop-O and he was so proud to be called that. Siblings: Nelda Jean, Jeanette, Dorothy, Cynthia, Ronnie, Beverly, Darrell, Jackie, and Kim. Numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father Johnnie, Mother Mildred and siblings: Bill, Gay, Mike, Libby, Tim, Melanie and Roger and good friend James Lair.
A scholarship fund is being established in his name. This will go to students pursuing a career in auto mechanics. Information to come soon if you’d like to donate in lieu of flowers.
