John Wayne Guest

John Wayne Guest, beloved father, Pawpaw, husband and friend went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 23, 2018. John was born October 5, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, grew up in Irving, Texas and spent the last thirty-three years in Mesquite, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Vickie, daughter Emily and husband Kyle, grandson Ezra, stepfather Woody Baxter, brother Butch Ramsey and wife Linda, along with many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Maurice Baxter.
John was a man of many talents and liked to share those talents with family, friends, and strangers. He was fond of sharing what he called Life Lessons, things he thought were important for people to know, especially young people. John liked to talk to people and get to know them, which made him a great Insurance Agent for over forty years. John was an avid reader, often reading 2 or 3 books a week and encouraged others to read by sharing his books. He had a passion for playing Texas Hold'Em and formed many friendships over a poker table. John had a love for children and was a child at heart. His most recent joy was the birth of his grandson, Ezra, and the time they spent together. John was also devoted to his church, Eastridge Park, and his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
A special thanks for the friendship, care, and companionship provided by Jim Brown and Al Dimiero during John's last few months. These men devoted many hours to taking care of John in his time of need and there are no words to truly express how much it meant to John.
A memorial service will be held to honor John's life on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Eastridge Park Christian Church, 2701 North Town East Blvd, Mesquite, Texas 75150.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to one of the following: his church, Eastridge Park Christian Church, in his honor or in the form of school supplies donated to McDonald Middle School in Mesquite, Texas.
