John Michael Batsch

John Michael Batsch, 62, of Sachse, TX passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. John was born in St. Louis, MO on March 3, 1955, was the loving husband of wife Shelly(Griffith)Batsch, the son of Joseph Raymond and Lois Ann Batsch, and son-in-law to Linda Smith. John held a very important place in the lives of his family and many friends, including daughters, Misti Stubbs and Kylie Griffith and grandsons, Hayden and Hunter Stubbs. He is survived by his brother Tom (Toni) Batsch, sister Nancy (Steve) Dunbar, sister Joanne (Greg) Prante, brother Terry (Barb) Batsch, sister Vickie (Rick) Muldoon, and nieces and nephews, Leaha (Jeff) Kern, Joe Batsch, Chris Olson, Gregory Prante, Nick Batsch, Megan Batsch, Lisa Marcinkiewicz, and Susan Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lois Batch and by his niece Kimberly Batsch.


John was a graduate of Lindbergh High School, Class of1974 in St. Louis, MO.He worked in his family’s jewelry business (Batsch Jewelers) until relocating to Dallas/Fort Worth in the early 1990s where he began building a successful business as a general contractor. In 2002 John met his soulmate and future wife Shelly Griffith. They began a wonderful life together, most recently realizing their dream of owning lakefront property on Lake Holbrook in Texas.


John was a man who “never met a stranger,” making friends wherever he went. And for those closest to him, his loving nature will be greatly missed. John’s passing was unexpected, associated with a cardiac arrhythmia. John was taken far too soon.


Services will be held at Charles Smith Funeral Home in Sachse, TXon Saturday, December 30, visitationat 1pm, serviceat 2 pm.


In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
