John Michael Aust

December 4, 1932 — July 5, 2014

John Michael Aust passed away on July 5, 2014 in the peacefulness of his home in Richardson, Tx. Born on December 4, 1932, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, he was the third son of the late Paul George and Katherine Keil Aust. He attended Purdue University in Lafayette, In, and entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from the United States Air Force Pilot School in 1955 and served as a flight instructor for multi engine and fighter jets at Vance AFB, Enid, Oklahoma, until he retired in 1960 due to an injury to his eye. He retired as a 1st Lieutenant. John chose to finish his college education at Oklahoma State University where he graduated in 1962 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation, he was employed by Texas Instruments in Plano, Texas, serving in numerous assignments in various parts of the world. After retiring from TI in 1991 John began working with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas Deaf Ministry first as a volunteer and then in 2004 he assumed the role of Coordinator of Ministry to Persons with Disabilities, Caregivers and to the Deaf. Over the last ten years, he was instrumental in the growth of this ministry.

John was a member of many organizations including Sigma Tau, Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. He was a founding member of the Stephen Ministry and the Columbarium Ministry at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul G. Aust , Jr. of Bourbonnais, IL. He is survived by an older brother, Richard F Aust, Sr. of Bradenton, Florida, and his sister, Mary Pinter, of Stow, Ohio, and their loving families and a loyal circle of friends.

The rosary will be held at Eastgate Funeral Home on Sunday, July 13, at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on July 14, at 10:30 am. Military Funeral Honors will be held at DFW National Cemetery Monday July 14, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
