Joe Dale Doak, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 6, 2020.
Although he currently lived in Wylie, Texas, he was born on May 31, 1935 to Gerald and Lillian (Moss) Doak in Wellman, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, and their daughter Stefanie and her husband, Stephen.
It was in 1955 that he met and married the love of his life, Wanda (Bayless) Doak. He then served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force. He loved the outdoors and worked as a farmer for many years. However, he followed his dream in life by going into law enforcement. He worked for the Lubbock Sherriff's Department before moving to the Dallas area to become an officer in the Mesquite Police Department and then the Garland Police Department.
During his career of over 25 years with the Garland Police Department, he became a lieutenant and especially enjoyed being the range master and firearms instructor.
He was an avid reader who passed the time by reading the latest best selling western or military book. He also loved dogs, especially his dachshund Cody.
However, the most important decision he made was when he accepted Christ as his Savior in 1956. He loved reading and learning more about the Bible, especially the book of Revelation. Over the years, he served his Lord as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and church security officer.
Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons of Sachse, Texas.
