Joan Hauge

February 13, 1935 — June 1, 2019

Joan Hauge was born February 13, 1935 to William and Ethel Levy and went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2019.

Joan is survived by her husband Arne, married just two weeks short of 61 years. She is also survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Nancy and Tony Kemmet and Linda and Julian Gonzalez; grandchildren: AJ (Kaitlin), Daniel, Jennifer (Jamie), Sera (Adam) and Monica along with great-grandchildren Clark, Hannah and Eleanor and her cat Sandy. She is also survived by brothers Gerald (Jo) and Morrie (Terri); sisters-in-law Jean and Gloria; life-long friend Pat; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law: William Larvinson, Marvin and Dorothy Larvison; Syd and Marianne Levy; and beloved pets Caseylee and Fluffy.

While Joan worked through her entire adult life at Computer Language Research (FastTax), UT Southwestern and Baylor University Medical Center, the most important part of her life was the time spent with her family and friends. Joan touched the lives of so many people through involvement with all kinds of activities. She taught Sunday School, was a Camp Fire Girls leader and always volunteered with and attended her daughters' school activities while they were growing up. Joan and her two daughters were considered the 3 Musketeers since they were always together. Joan also enjoyed having fun with family and friends through Bunco, Keno, themed dinner parties, cake decorating, and cooking the most wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners; always inviting everyone to join the family and cooking enough food to feed an army. Joan attended Our Savior Lutheran Church from when it was first built and was an active member until her health started interfering with her attendance. She was also very active with the Norwegian Society of Texas, serving in various capacities through the years.

Joan loved to travel with her husband Arne on their annual wedding anniversary trips and with her family on regular trips to Canada, Florida, Las Vegas (she loved the penny slots!) and visiting Arne's family in Norway as well as having adventures with her best friend Pat. Joan's other love was animals. She always adopted animals to give them a long and loving home; and in addition to their house pets, Joan recently "adopted" Chance the Bobcat at InSync Exotics in support of rescued exotic cats.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend and she loved being a grandma and great-grandma. She will be truly missed by all her family and many friends. A memorial celebration of Joan's life is planned for:
