Jo Elfin Limes passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in McKinney, Texas.
She was born on September 16, 1944 in Borger, Texas, to Gordon and Odessa Galyon Limes.
She grew up in Fremont, Nebraska where she was an excellent student and particularly enjoyed art and drama while attending Fremont High. Not long after graduating, Jo moved to Dallas, Texas - nearer her mother's family and where she met her dearest friends and husband.
She was a devoted wife to James Dennis Medrick for 12 years and a loving mother to her two children, Cari Denise and Jeffrey Dalton. There was no doubt of her adoration of Cari and Jeff, since asking about her always got an answer about them.
Her life was about family and faith. She was a baptized at Fremont Baptist Church and joined First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Garland, TX in 1972. An active member for over 30 years, she was the church librarian, creating their first catalog. Jo was also the editor of the Christian Women's Fellowship newsletter and loved teaching the Ruth Mix Sunday School class for many years. She was the second female to become an Elder at FCC Garland. Jo also participated in School of Theology for the Laity starting in 1979. Of which, she was the volunteer bookstore manager, and the first person who was not a member of East Dallas Christian Church to serve on the STL Board of Directors; and then from 2001 through 2003, as Board Chair. She was also the STL representative speaker for the Joe A. and Nancy Vaughn Stalcup Lecture on Christian Unity in 1999, 2001 and 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Cari Jordan and husband, Ty of Lucas, TX; her son, Jeff Medrick and wife Tiffany of Anna, TX; and four grandchildren of whom she was very proud - Ariel, Nick, Taylor and Jarrett. She's also survived by her sister, Michelle Eaton of Missouri, niece Jamie and husband Dwayne Roberts, nephew Eric and wife Brenda Hansen, niece Sonja and husband Greg Hampton all in Nebraska - including 4 great nephews and 2 great nieces whom she loved.
