Jf Hall

August 5, 1952 — December 30, 2016

JF Hall, 64, of Wylie, Texas, departed this world while sleeping peacefully on December 30, 2016. Better known as “Jeff” with a Texas drawl, JF was born in Farmersville, Texas on August 5, 1952. A high-school dropout, JF gained his education through his hands, self-determination, and family.

On March 17, 1987 JF gleefully married Janet Jerden on a lunch-break jaunt to the courthouse; they were married for over twenty-nine years. If anything at all, JF was the epitome of a loving and devoted husband. In three decades they left each other’s' sides only a handful of times.

JF was a self-made man who dabbled in the home and real estate business, from starting up his own professional painting company to building custom houses and managing rental properties across the northwest DFW. In his youth he enjoyed adventurous hobbies like car racing and owning cattle, preferring a jack-of-all-trades approach than ever settling on any pursuit long-term.

Despite various jobs and interests JF had throughout life, his person and character were defined by love for God and his family. He thoroughly enjoyed lazy Sundays with satellite TV, naps, and playfully antagonizing his loved ones. Throughout his life he had the humor and grin of a prankster, and leaves behind a legacy of stories that seem more tall tale than memory.

JF is survived by his wife Janet, his daughters Lane, Jordan, and Mandy, and son Joe David. He also leaves behind his mother, Odie Hall, brother Norman and sister Tina, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and namesake, Julius Frankie Hall, known as “Sonny” to all who loved him.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. David Meeks of Bethlehem Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 1 o'clock at the same location. Burial will immediately follow the service at Sachse Cemetery.

The Hall Family would like to thank the Wylie Police Officers, Fire Department and Rescue for their tireless efforts to keep JF with us. Additional thanks to Charles W. Smith and Sons for their services and helping make this time easier for our family.
