Jerry Paul Morris, age 74 of Sherman, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2024 in Plano, Texas. He was born on August 27, 1949 in Sherman, Texas to Charles Winfred and Ruby Christine (Watson) Morris. Jerry graduated from McKinney High School in 1967 and married Lucretia Reynolds November 22, 1968. They were married for fourteen years and had two children. He married Donna Johns on January 7, 1984. He worked for Dr. Pepper for many years, and worked at other places before he started at Red River Farm Co Op. He retired from the Co Op in 2018.
Jerry was a jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build, brick, repair, or drive. He was the hardest working person you would ever meet. He worked long hours doing hard work to take care of his family, yet he still made time to help anyone in need.
Growing up on a farm in New Hope, Texas, tractors and farming were things he always enjoyed. He had many hobbies. He loved airplanes, real ones and remote controlled, and he got his pilot’s license in the 80’s and enjoyed flying small planes. Trains were also something that brought him joy. He loved going to train shows, and he had his own train layout in his shed. He spent many hours working on it. The great grand kids had so much fun with Papaw running the train around the track. He let them “drive” the train.
What can you say about a man like Jerry? He was the guy that would go out of his way for anyone, friend, family, or neighbor. He never met a stranger, and he could talk the horns off a billy goat. Jerry was a friend to everyone he met. His family was everything to him. He made it to every birthday party, school function, and sporting event for the grand kids no matter how busy his schedule was. His family already misses him dearly, and he will never be forgotten. He has left his mark on this world that will never be erased.
Jerry is survived by his son, Randall Morris and wife, Joell; daughter, Vonnie Morris; life companion, Donna Morris; five grandchildren, E.J. Miller, Jared Miller and best friend/adopted family member, Danielle Otterson, Faith Hancock and husband, Matt, Paul Morris and wife, Kristyn, and Tori Morris; seven great grandchildren, Miicah Miller, Evelyn Miller, Ruby Miller, Macie Andersen, Lane Hancock, Ellie Hancock, and Lettie Morris; one brother, Charles Morris and wife, Shirley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby Morris, Royce Morris, and Doyle Morris; one sister, Shirley Ballard.
