Jerry Edward Mantooth passed away from dementia on Tuesday, December 24th at Park Manor in McKinney at the age of 76.
Jerry was born on November 14th, 1943 to Russell A. Mantooth and Frances Lucille Duncan Mantooth. Jerry graduated from McKinney High School in 1962. He was employed by Varo in Garland as a Quality control Inspector for many years and later worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed body building, drawing, painting, comic books, coin collecting, and watching old movies. He was a member of Altoga Baptist Church and later attended Cornerstone Worship Center in McKinney. Jerry was a loving big brother and a positive influence in his siblings, nieces and nephews' lives. He was funny and liked to joke around. He taught his brother about camping and fishing, and as a result his brother still enjoys hiking and camping. Jerry taught them a lot about proper health, nutrition and exercise. As a result of his interest in body building his younger brother and 3 nephews and a niece became interested in nutrition exercise and body building. He was a sponsor for AA for many years.
He is survived by his father Russell A. Mantooth of McKinney, daughters Diana Carter and husband Kevin of Royse City and Angie Mastens and husband Christopher of Federal Heights, Colorado, son Mark Mantooth of Garland; sister Sharon Wallace and husband David of McKinney; brother Russell R. Mantooth and wife Cindy of McKinney; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Frances Lucille Duncan Mantooth and sister Linda Mantooth McCrary
A service will be held at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas on Monday afternoon December 30th. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Altoga Cemetery.
