Jerry Lee Calverley Sr. of Sherman, Texas passed away November 11, 2019 in Denison, Texas at the age of 78. Jerry was born December 7, 1940 to Raymond and Alice Kathrine Powell Calverley. Jerry had 4 other brothers whom he loved dearly. Jerry graduated high school and became a self-taught sheet metal engineer working for corporate giants such as Texas Instruments, Raytheon and DaveCo of whom he remained friends with throughout the years. He was meticulous and knew what "tolerance" was, even making in many cases first prototypes.
Jerry's pastimes included singing country karaoke and working on cars, especially hotrods in which his favorite was his '51 Chevy delivery sedan with flame details in the paint job. Jerry belonged to the Summer Nights Car Club of Rockwall, Texas for many years. He also loved dancing and even met his wife Leona on the dancefloor. They later wed in 1984 in Garland, Texas. Jerry will be remembered by many as a man full of life and spunk who loved being surrounded by family and who would do anything to help someone in need.
Jerry is survived by wife Leona Calverley, brother Sam Calverley, children; Raymond Calverley and wife Elizabeth of Seagoville, Tracy Calverley and wife Debi from Sherman, Jerry Calverley Jr. and wife DeAnne from Rockwall, Kim Blackledge and husband Covert from Sachse, Jill Weathers and husband Chris of Eagle, Colorado, and stepdaughter Tereasa Pitts and husband Brad of McKinney; grandchildren; Delaina, Justin, Julie, Ashley, Ryan, Brandon, Lauren, Emily, Lee, Hannah, Cole, Caitlyn, and Zach as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded by his father Raymond, mother Alice, sister Francis and brothers Jack, Jimmy, and Tommy.
He was a beloved husband who were always the couple that still sat next to each other when dining out. Sometimes people would even pay for their meals because they could see the love they had for each other.
Jerry will be missed by all.
