Jennifer Grady

October 7, 1975 — August 14, 2019

After a lengthy illness, Jennifer Elissa Gonzales Grady entered God's merciful arms of peace and love on
Wednesday, August 14, 2019. She spent her last earthly days surrounded by family at her home in Sachse, Texas. She was 43 years of age.
Born on October 7th, 1975 in Big Spring, Texas to George Mickey Gonzales and Karen Weber, Jennifer spent her early years in Snyder with her family and especially enjoyed time in her Mema's Hallmark store, where she developed her love of shopping.
In 2000, she met the love of her life, Kevin Lee Grady. They married on July 27, 2001 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and began raising their family together. Jennifer worked full time and continued her education, earning an associates degree from Ivy Tech before returning to Texas in 2007. She would later continue her education and was only two courses shy of a second degree before her studies were interrupted by a need to focus on healing.

She had a passion for rescuing dogs and was engaged in all aspects of rescue and foster. She would drive from one side of the DFW Metroplex to the other with her car full of dog food donated to rescue shelters. Often, after a long day of work, she would rescue a dog scheduled to be euthanized and take it to a different shelter to give it another chance at life. She taught her two youngest sons how to help by example. They would often accompany her on her many trips and assist with fundraising for the rescue shelter. At the age of 10, she was diagnosed with diabetes. The challenges of growing up with this disease from such a young age only made her a stronger and more determined soul. The tenacity she developed would be the foundation of her strength when she met her next foe, cancer. Her fight with cancer was not a battle, it was an all-out war and she never gave up. Her sheer will and determination to live overcame the disease again and again until her body could no longer continue the fight.

She was preceded in death by her father; George Mickey Gonzales; her beloved Mema and Papa (Joyce and Ronnie Weber); and her great-aunt Loyce Hayes, all of Snyder. Jennifer's fierce warrior spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by Kevin Grady, her devoted husband of 18 years; three sons; Garrett Pietras, Brennan Grady and Connor Grady, all of Sachse; mother and stepfather; Karen and Kevin Lind of Caddo Mills, Texas; brother Joshua Gonzales and wife Brandy of Granbury, Texas; aunts Kathy Weber and Connie Weber of Snyder, Texas; aunt and uncle Vera and Danny Ubando; cousins Toby Ubando, Christi Lay, and Brenda Ubando all of Snyder, Texas; mother-in-law Sandra Grady; brothers-in-law Charles Grady and Wayne Grady; sisters-in-law Tabatha Grady and Jenny Grady, all of Indiana; Jill Tyndall of Snow Hill, North Carolina; numerous nephews and nieces including Adrian, Caleb, Matthew, Braylee, and Brooklyn Gonzales of Granbury, Texas; and special friends Trish Argumaniz and Liliana Franco-Ramirez.

Viewing is scheduled for 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17th. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18th. Both will be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas. Officiating the service will be Toby Ubando. Honorary pallbearers will be: Garrett Pietras, Brennan Grady, Connor Grady, Kevin Lind, Joshua Gonzales, Adrian Gonzales, Caleb Gonzales, and Matthew Gonzales.
