Jean Ellen Hensing

Jean E. Hensing, 74, of Richardson,passed awayof natural causes on Sunday at her home in Richardson, TX. Funeral services will be Friday, November 17th at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richardson. There will be a visitation at the church starting at 9:30 am. A reception at the church will follow immediately after the mass.

Jean E. Hensing was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Andrew M. and Kathryn (Judge) Hensing. She was a graduate of Ames High School and Iowa State University. She received a Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL.

Jean’s life passion was teaching. She was an elementary school teacher for 30 years in Illinois. She was dedicated to helping children with reading difficulties. After her retirement she continued to tutor her grandchildren and neighborhood children until her passing.

She is survived by her beloved children Carol M. (Ryan) Atkins of Richardson, TX, Beth A. (Eddie) Poltl of McKinney, TX, and Brian J.(Melissa) Higdon of Bartlett, IL; her beloved grandchildren Nicole M. Higdon, Charles G. and Andrew J. Atkins, Joshua B. and Henry R. Higdon; her great-grandson Braden J. Higdon; her brothers David, John, and Joseph Hensing; and her sisters Ann Guay and Mary Susan Fawkes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in her name to the Immaculate Conception School or American Cancer Society.
