Janis (Tigger) Harbin, age 60, passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2021, at her home in Lavon, after an intense eight month battle with stage4 cervical cancer. She was born December 28th, 1960, in Wichita Falls, TX.
Janis was an avid barrel racer as a teenager, before venturing (hired as the third employee) into her 34 year career which culminated in being the Vice President of Bill Joplin's Heating and Air Conditioning, in McKinney. Janis craved the ocean, and spent several weeks each year vacationing in Cancun – she was fascinated by mermaids and turtles. Janis also loved riding her Victory Vegas motorcycle, and survived a near-tragic TBI eight years ago – at which time she was changed from analytical to artistic. Janis then founded Tigger's Treasures - Art from my heART, meant to touch yours - where she hosted Painting Parties, Face Painting, Murals, Wall Art, Wood Signs, and Acrylic & Watercolor Paintings.
Janis was equal parts sweet, kind, crazy, funny, ornery, mouthy, thoughtful, carefree…she truly was beautiful chaos. She was a sweet friend to everyone she knew. She taught us how to live freely and love deeply. She was greatly loved and will forever be missed.
Janis is survived by her loving husband Chris Harbin; her children: Jamie Hopper, Ashley Harbin and husband Alan Bentley, and Austin Harbin and wife Christine; her grandchildren: Hunter, Adelyn, Cecilia, and Grant; her sister Ann Keller and husband Jim; and numerous other family members and friends. Janis is preceded in death by her father Charles Edward Duncan, her mother Dorothy Ann Rogers Duncan, and her brother Dr Robert Claud Duncan.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 30th at the large gazebo in Lake View Cemetery, 2343 Lake Rd, Lavon, TX 75166. A "celebration of life" (BYOB) will immediately follow at her home: 705 Lakeridge Dr in Lavon.
Please bring a mask and maintain proper social distancing during the service.
Funeral service entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons of Lavon, Texas.
