Jammie Perry, 93, resident of Dallas, Texas, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Jammie, also known as Janie, was also one of four children born to the late James House and Cora Dillard. She was born on September 21, 1921 in New Boston, Texas where she spent her childhood until she married the late Benjamin Perry, her "childhood" sweetheart. From this union, they had one daughter Erma Perry Harris. Seeking better job opportunities, Ben moved to St. Louis to work for Wabash Railroad and Jammie, with Erma, moved to Dallas on advice from a sister to perform domestic work for various families. She sought better job opportunities and joined the American Airlines Sky Chef work force. During this time frame, she purchased a home in Hamilton Park, an all black community, and joined New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she resided until her illness in 2010. Jammie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Erma Harris; her grandson, Victor Harris; his daughter, Megan Stukes and her husband, James Stukes and a great great grandson, Princeton Stukes. She also leaves ten half brothers and sisters, her church family at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church and her friends in the Hamilton Park community. Jammie requested no service and to be cremated. Her remains will be given to her daughter. For my mom, I will always miss you.
