James Aaron Wood

July 20, 1979 — June 1, 2016

James Aaron Wood left this world on June 1st, 2016. He leaves behind his wife and best friend Carrie. Aaron was an old soul full of love and life. 4 years ago, Aaron was in search of the woman who would love him as hard as he would love her; he found that person in Carrie. From the moment they met, they knew they were destined to be together.

An incredibly talented musician, Aaron could play almost any instrument, but the guitar and piano were his passion. He would play almost every day for hours; often soothing Carrie after a long day at work. In addition to his music, Aaron was an amazing artist. Carrie and Aaron’s house is filled with the art Aaron created – sketches in pen or pencil as well as paintings in watercolor or acrylic. His creativity was inspiring. Aaron was a self-proclaimed nerd who loved movies, comic books, gaming and anything techy. He collected all things superhero related and was very proud of his collections.

Though Aaron didn’t have children of his own, he was close with his step-daughter D’Laina Burdick and was as close as a person could be with his nephew Tyler Wood. He loved Tyler as if he was his own son, beginning when Tyler was small and continuing that bond over the years. Aaron was so proud to see Tyler graduate high school and proudly serve his country by enlisting in the Army. Tyler’s calls made Aaron positively giddy each time they were able to catch up.

Aaron grew up very close to his cousin Matt Kennon Jr, but was blessed to connect with Matt’s youngest brother Caleb Kennon and wife Heavenly over the past few years. It was an instant bond that gave Aaron the family connection that he longed for his entire life - a relationship based on pure love with nothing expected in return on Aaron’s part. In 2015, Aaron was honored when asked to be the Godfather of their beautiful daughter Scarlet Ivy. Their friendship, love, kindness and trust meant the world to him.

Aaron was also fortunate to make a lifelong friend and “brother” in Lawrence Gibbs. Gibbs is gruff, rude, honest to a fault; but with a heart of gold, which naturally made them instant friends. Aaron and Gibbs were put in each other’s path at a time in both their lives when they each felt they had no one and nothing. They leaned on one another for support and remained best friends for more than 10 years.

Aaron had a very rough childhood filled with pain, sorrow and disappointment. Our hearts are filled with light that he passed feeling love, respect and happiness.

Aaron is survived by his wife Carrie Wood; Step daughter D’Laina Burdick; mother Darlene Cantrell; Father Frank A Wood Jr and wife Barbara; Brother David A Wood and wife LeaAnn; Brother Weston White; Nephews Tyler Wood, Coby Martin and Ashton Wood; Nieces Brooklin Wood and Brittani Cox; Uncle and Aunt Matt Sr and Geraldine Kennon; Cousins Matt Kennon Jr, Jacob Kennon, Caleb Kennon and wife Heavenly; Goddaughter Scarlet Kennon.

Honorary Pallbearers are Tyler Wood, Lawrence Gibbs, Caleb Kennon, Matt Kennon Jr, Jacob Kennon and David Wood.
