James Edward Patrick

September 20, 1925 — March 21, 2016

James Edward Patrick, better known as Pat, was born September 20th, 1925 in Ashley County, Arkansas and passed away March 21st, 2016 in Garland, Texas. Pat volunteered for the Naval Military service after graduating from high school in Hamburg, Arkansas. He served 32 months in the Navy in the South Pacific and Hawaiian Islands during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge, he entered Arkansas State College and later transferred to the Mortuary School of Science in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating he worked as a Funeral Director for 25 years and later entered the retail business from which he retired in 1985. He is preceded in death by his parents Alonzo William and Helen Allen, his brother Allen, and granddaughter Amber. Pat is survived by Betty his wife and soul mate of 61 years, two sons, James of Pearland, Texas and his wife, Gail and Bill of Fishersville, Virginia and his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Darlene of Gainsville, Georgia and her husband, Marvin and Bobbie of Garland, Texas and her husband, Gary; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Pat and his wife Betty loved to travel, fish, golf and play bridge. After their retirement in 1985, they made their home in the Rio Grande Valley and served as volunteers for eight years at the McAllen Memorial Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Pat was President of the Hospital Auxiliary for 4 years. Pat was of the Baptist Faith and served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years. Pat loved spending time with his grandchildren and being involved in their activities.
