Jim was born to James and Delores McMullin, May 16,1947, in Laurium, Michigan. He graduated from L'Anse High School in 1965, and then attended Lake Superior State College before joining the United States Army in 1966.
He leaves as his legacy three children: James McMullin IV and wife Kelly, Joey McMullin and wife Megan, and Jessica Sandlin and husband Neil. He also leaves as his legacy ten grandchildren: Brett and wife Emily, Chandler, Mia, Alyssa, Caden, Morgan, Ashton, Andee, Eden and Addison. He leaves to cherish his memory four siblings: Darlene Payne and husband Walt, John McMullin and wife Ann, Barbara Turpeinen and husband John, and Victoria Wierenga and husband Chad. He also leaves behind his longtime girlfriend Kim h. Hong. He was preceded in death James McMullin Jr., father, Delores McMullin, mother, and nephews Scott Picton and Chadwick Wierenga.
Jim served as Military Police in the United States Army until 1969. Upon returning from military service he worked at the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company. He then gave almost 40 years to his professional career to the United States Postal Service, both in Michigan and Texas, before retiring in 2012.
Jim received Jesus as Lord and Savior as a teenager and served as a deacon for many years in various churches. As a proud father and grandpa, he always valued family; he truly enjoyed talking with others and "entertained" others by talking about Michigan weather and showing pictures of Michigan wildlife.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10am, July 16th at Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. Jim's final resting place will be at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to his home church Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
Services entrusted to Charles W. Smith & Sons of Sachse, Texas.
