James Michael Lochabay was born January 10, 1943 to Andrew Jackson Lochabay and Billie Jo Smith in Ft. Worth, TX. Mike, as he was known to all, was the oldest of 5 Brothers and 2 Sisters: Charles Spooner, Ronnie Spooner, Gary Spooner, David Lochabay, Francis Lochabay, and Sandra Lochabay.
After high school, Mike joined the Marine Reserves serving from 1961 to 1968. He met his wife Evelyn Elaine Lochabay while working in Salt Lake. After dating 3 weeks, they eloped to Elko, Nevada with the help of Elaine's brother Dick and his wife Velate. They spent the next 53 years together. After they were married, they lived in Utah where they had 3 kids, Michael, Carrie, and Tracy. Upon moving to Texas, they decided they needed a Texan, a daughter, and Jennifer was born here in Texas.
When the kids were little, Mike coached soccer and baseball. Mike was a Civil Engineer and worked for North Texas Municipal Water District. Mike taught hunter education for many years and was very active through the states' programs with hunting. He also taught Texas and Utah license to carry for many years and he was an advocate for people's rights and training. It was important to Mike for people to learn how to properly handle firearms.
Mike had 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grand-children. Mike is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, his brothers Charles Spooner, Ronnie Spooner, David Lochabay, son Mike Lochabay, and 2 grandchildren.
Mike will be interned at Lakeview Cemetery, 2343 Lake Rd, Lavon, TX 75166 on March 12, 2021.
