James Farrell King

James "Farrell" King passed away in Dallas, Texas, on September 28, 2018, at the age of 92. He was born August 2, 1926, in Lepanto, Arkansas, to Homer Farrell and Lettie Mae Corder King. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Howard Homer King; and his wife, Mary Jane Naylor King. He is survived by his sister Melva King Zivney of College Station, TX; son Jeffery "Jeff" Farrell King and daughter in law Jan Jameson King of Wildwood, MO; daughter Julie King of Dallas, TX; grandson Ryan Farrell King of Dallas, TX; grandson Adam Jeffery King, granddaughter in law Amy Jo Brandt King and great granddaughter Anna Jo King of Columbia, SC; and Elizabeth Boyle May of Dallas, TX, his Goddaughter and "bonus daughter."

He served in the Army of the United States of America during World War II from October 1944 - June 1946. His military occupations included: Military Policeman, Clerk-Typist and Antitank Gun Crewman. He was part of the "Greatest Generation" – one of the "boys who saved the world." He was awarded an Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Ribbon with 2 Overseas Service Bars; and a Combat Infantry Badge during his service. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He met the love of his life and wife of 66 years, Mary Jane, in Freshman Spanish class, at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1950. Farrell was an Executive with Ford Motor Company for many years. Farrell and Mary Jane were members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church since 1976. Farrell volunteered regularly by straightening Sanctuary Hymnals and Bibles, sharpening "pew" pencils, hanging pictures and anything else he could do to help. He was an avid University of Arkansas and Dallas Cowboys football fan.

A memorial service will be held October 2, 2018, at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Chapel, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX, 75230 or a charity of your choice.
