Mr. Jim Gordon Holley peacefully passed away on January 10th, 2017 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 92. Jim was born on January 22nd, 1924 in Allen, Texas to Jim and Janie (Alderson) Holley.After growing up and working a farm in Allen, TX, Jim served in the Army during World War II. He was a part of 740th Tank Battalion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1941, Jim met the love of his life, Bertha Tschoepe on a blind date. They were married on March 28th, 1944. Together they had 3 children, Jim, Joe, and Nancy Holley.
Jim was preceded in death by both his parents and 14 siblings. Jim is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Bertha Holley of 72 years; his two sons Jim Holley and wife Diane of Whitney, Texas, Joe Holley and wife Brenda of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and daughter Nancy Holley of Plano, Texas. Jim is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Jimmy Holley (Brittney), Kristi Risner (Jayson), Jeremy Civello (Deanna), Matthew Holley (Michele), Jennifer Civello, and Katie Stinton (Zach). Jim was blessed with 17 great grandchildren, Jayson Risner, Bailey Risner, Joseph Holley, Hailey Limbaugh, Hunter Limbaugh, Sarah Holley, Mikala Kincy, McKinley Kincy, John Ambrose Holley, Emma Civello, Olivia Civello, Mary Grace Holley, Wyatt Holley, Reese Stinton, Sloane Stinton, Cruz Stinton, and Max Stinton.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening on January 13th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons funeral home located at 601 South Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas.The rosary service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church located at 411 Paula Road, McKinney Texas.
Jim was most proud of his family. Not only did he love his immediate family, but he shared that love with all of his nieces, nephews, and other family members.
