James Burnside

December 29, 1924 — October 23, 2016

James Weldon Burnside joined his Lord and Savior October 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 29, 1924 to Adolphus Lee (Doc) and Margaret (Maggie) Josephine Carter in the Stiff Chapel community. His family later moved to Chambersville where he attended school.

He married Sybil Euledine Jordan (Dean) September 15, 1945 only 3 weeks after they met. They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage.

James was always active in church, serving as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and various other positions within the church. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He often said "You can't out give God" and was a faithful supporter of the local church and missions. He loved to share his faith with others.

In 1965, James retired from his position at Desoto Chemical in Garland and wisely used his retirement savings to purchase investment properties which the family still owns today. In 1968, he joined McKinney Fire Department and was there until 1986. He shared so many wonderful stories about his time with the MFD family.

Those left behind and looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven are his wife, Dean, son Denny Burnside and wife, Nancy, of McKinney, Rev. Jerry Burnside and wife, Brenda, of McAlester, OK and Denice Burnside Webb and husband, Jack, of McKinney. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kim Burr and husband, Dale, Chris Hillblom , Terrence Burnside and wife, Amy, Amber Duke and husband, Tim, Mallorie Tyler and husband, Tate, Renee Gabbard and husband, Trent, Jason Burnside and wife, Kendra, Jared Webb and wife, Kim, and Jordan Webb and wife, Amy. He has numerous grand children, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his father, mother and 13 brothers and sisters. Also 2 grandchildren, Camela Renee and James Michael Burnside.

Home Going Celebration will be heldSaturday October 29, 2016beginningat 11:00 a.m.at Victory Church located at1008 W. Erwin, McKinney, Texas 75069with Rev. James Short officiating. A reception to follow.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.

A private burial will be held at Stoney Point Cemetery with a balloon release.
