James Andrew Baxter entered Heaven's Gates Wednesday morning June 1, 2022 to be greeted by his mom Alys and his dad Ben and many other family members and friends.
James was one of the best old-time carpenters you could ever find anywhere. There was nothing he couldn't build. He learned the trade from his dad. He built his first house by himself at the age of 17.
He loved to play music, especially Gospel music with his wife Joy and many other friends and family over the years. He loved playing with his two uncles Leon Baxter and Woody Baxter.
He leaves behind his loving wife Joy of McKinney, TX, step daughter Kerri Gardner of Farmersville, TX and step son Rodney Rush of Burneyville, OK. He also is survived by his sisters all of Monroe, Louisiana, Fran Matz, Retta Holcomb, and Mary Wooten and his brother Roy Baxter and wife Carol of Caddo, OK.
He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him, but we know he is rejoicing over getting to see Jesus and be able to thank Him for his salvation. He is also waiting for a great reunion with his wife Joy and many other family and friends that will join him soon in that beautiful city with the streets of gold.
A memorial service for James, led by Rev. LD Byrd (Preston North Church of Christ), Rev. Bill Rosnett (Northwest Christian Church), and Rev. Eddie DeHondt (White Rock Baptist), with musical selection "I Saw the Light" rendered by Dude Harris, will be held on Saturday June 18, 2022 at 11:00am at White Rock Baptist Church, 5061 CR 1220, Anna, TX 75409
