James Brian Baikie

August 29, 1947 — May 27, 2013

On May 27th at the age of 65, Brian Baikie was piloted away to the Glory of Heaven leaving behind his beloved wife and best friend of 23 years, Diane. Loving father of Bryson Pare and Amanda Geggie (Andrew), and grandson Daniel. His Canadian family - dearly loved sister Linda Camick (Don), his Aunt Lenore Woods, cousins Beth Woods, John Woods, and Pam Giller (Gary). And his dearly loved American family - son Larry Jost, daughter Nicole Wolf (Shane) and adored grandchildren Corbin, Caleb, McKinlee, Tristan and Avery. Brian is predeceased by his parents James and Muriel Baikie.

Brian's love of everything Scottish came from his father who came to Canada in his twenties from the Orkney Islands, Scotland. Brian was deeply proud of his Scottish heritage.

A Canadian from the Great White North, Brian was born in Stratford, Ontario but spent most of his life in Brantford, Ontario. He graduated The University of Western Ontario, taught computer science in high school but obtained his private pilot license and soon thereafter in 1973, joined the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, getting his wings in 1974. Brian spent 4 years flying VIPs with the 412 squadron. He honed his flying skills as an instructor in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan eventually becoming a standards officer. He held every qualification possible:
Instrument check pilot, instructor standards officer and airshow display pilot on the Tudor. He finished his 21 year career with Central Flying School in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he was responsible for training standards of all jet training in the Canadian Forces.

As an exchange officer he went to Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio in 1990 where he flew the T37 and T38. Eventually he was employed at Flight Safety San Antonio as a pilot and flight simulator instructor flying and instructing on the Citation Jet. Moving to Dallas in 2000, he was a corporate jet pilot flying the 604 and 605 Challenger at Flex Jet for two years. The last 11 years he was a Flight Simulator Instructor at Bombardier Aerospace. He was very excited to be part of the team for the new training program beginning in June for the Global Express.

A fierce competitor on the squash court, his passion for over 35 years, he continued to beat men half his age. This passion was only surpassed by his love of flying and instructing. He was an excellent pilot and a gifted teacher and instructor.

Brian was deeply devoted to everyone in his family. He will be remembered most for his sincere compassion, his warmth and kindness, his determination, his wonderful sense of humor, his infectious love of adventure, his love of music, his fun loving spirit and his big wonderful grin.

Brian's gentle, tender, loving nature was evident to all. He never knew a stranger and he sincerely cared about everyone he knew. He was a humanitarian, always giving of himself, his time and his resources to those in need.

Brian Baikie lived life big.

His love of our Lord Jesus Christ overflowed to others. He was a man of deep faith and conviction and his legacy will live on - in his children and grandchildren and everyone who knew him. He will remain in our hearts forever and will be very deeply missed.

The Celebration of Brian's Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 1st, 11:00 am at Stonebriar Community Church, Frisco, Texas.
