Jake (Jacob) Tellier was born October 17th, 1930 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. His parents were Isaac
and Carolina Vander Meer Tellier who immigrated from Holland to Iowa in their early 20's . As a
child the family resided on two different farms. The first one outside of Ladysmith. The second
one east of Sheldon, WI. At the end of 5th grade, the family moved back to Ladysmith. In June of
1943 they moved to Sheboygan, WI.
In school he was a very good student. In High School he was elected to the Honor Society.
Graduated in 1948 from Central High School.
At the age of 17 he joined the Naval Reserve.
Attended the University Extension for a year, then transferred to the U W in Madison until the
Navy called him to active duty. From Great Lakes he was sent to San Francisco to sail on the
U S S Hornet through the Panama Canal to Brooklyn, N Y, Naval Yards.
Returning to San Francisco
and assigned to the Aleutian Islands for 15 months. They repaired radar equipment on the navy
ships that came into port. Discharged in 1952, he worked for Western Electric in Milwaukee, W I
until he returned to U W Madison mid term.
Summers he worked in Milwaukee, Michigan and
Iowa. Graduated mid term in 1955 and was employed by Westinghouse Electric radar division
In Baltimore, Maryland. Worked for A C Sparkplug before moving to Dallas to work for Texas
Instruments.
In 1970 he started his business Tex Craft. Later Paws Grooming. Worked for I C B C .
He enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and herbs. An avid reader, he loved to discuss politics
with his sister on the phone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Catharina, 3 nephews and a brother in law.
Survived by 2 sisters Ann Martin, Wilma Tellier and a niece Karen Martin all of Sheboygan WI
and several cousins.
