J.M. Caldwell, Sr. entered this world on April 26, 1923, in Caddo Mills, Texas and entered heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 12, 2018. He was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and also known as "Papa, Uncle & Daddy" by many nieces, nephews, children, grand children and great grand children.
As a Minister of the gospel, he was ordained on June 24, 1947. It was his life's mission to bring others to Christ. He pastored many churches throughout North America and traveled worldwide evangelizing and preaching the gospel. It was his honor to serve the citizens of Princeton as their Mayor from 1969 to 1971. During that time, he assisted with City Manager duties as well as Justice of the Peace duties. Later, he served 8 years on the Princeton City Council and spent one year as Mayor Pro Tem. The J.M. Caldwell Sr. Community Park was dedicated in his honor by Congressman Sam Johnson.
J.M. Caldwell, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Edith Akins Caldwell; son, Charles David Caldwell; parents, James Randolph Caldwell and Nicie Ann Lee Caldwell.
J. M. is survived by his six children: daughters, Betty Sue Wou, Lillian Charlene Maxfield, Darlene Wagner and her husband, Ted, June Marie McCollum and her husband, Wayne; sons, John Mark Caldwell and his wife Lesa, Cliff Ray Caldwell and his wife Kaye; twelve (12) grandchildren, sixteen (16) great grandchildren and (2) great-great grandchildren.
