Henry "Herk" B. Rainey entered this world on August 10, 1938 in Wall, Pennsylvania and departed on August 31, 2022 at 5:18am in McKinney, Tx. His mortal body finally succumbed to Myelodysplasia and Multiple Myeloma. Herk is survived by Jeannette Page Rainey, his wife of 61 years, his children Kay B. Rainey and Michael D. Rainey, grandchildren Chris McKenna, Missy McKenna, Katie McKenna, MaryAnnetta McKenna Bingham and husband Zack Bingham. Henry's first great grandchild and namesake, Henry William Bingham, is due anytime. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel S. Rainey.
Herk grew up in Wall, Pennsylvania until going into the United states Navy at the age of 16. While stationed in San Francisco he met Jeannette. After they married, they settled in the Los Angeles area where Jeannette's family originated. Herk spent 36 years as an accountant for the Southern California Edison Company. While raising their children, Herk was very active in his congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Whittier 7th ward. His sense of humor and impeccable timing served him well during his time leading the Boy Scout Troop 871. Herk also volunteered with the California Handicap Skiers Foundation.
Upon retirement, Herk and Jeannette relocated to Prosper, Tx to be closer to Kay and their grandchildren. Herk continued to serve in his church in various capacities. He and Jeannette served in the Dallas, Texas Temple and also served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, one in New York and two in Dallas.
Herk will be remembered for his sense of humor, dramatic story telling, and willingness to serve the Lord.
