Helen Elise Jones

Born March 23, 1936 in Dallas, Texas Absent from the body, present with the Lord October 7, 2024.

She was 88 years old.

Helen was the second of two children born to Ivey and Ruth Hollingsworth. She is survived by the love of her life Calvin Ray Jones, two sons, Calvin Glenn and wife Teresa, Edwin Jones and wife Jean, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Greeting her in Heaven, with joy, is her daughter, Pamela Elise Jones Mitchell, a grandson, Calvin Paul Jones, and many loved ones and friends. But first of all her Savior who paid the price at Calvery making it all possible.

She married her high school sweetheart, Calvin, in 1957. Helen’s most beautiful accomplishment was her loving devotion to Jesus Christ from the age of six. She had a passion for studying God’s Word and served the Lord in a number of churches. “Count Me able” was one of her favorite expressions of faith giving peace in any circumstance. In other accomplishments, she was president of the Dallas Baptist G.A.s when she was sixteen, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954, and obtained an Associate’s Degree in Commercial Art from the University of Texas at Arlington. Upon graduation in 1956, she worked for Adam A Bliss Architectural Firm and easily acquired architectural drafting skills, creating perspectives and working with building standards. She worked until the joyful birth of their first child, at which point she became a professional homemaker. She was skilled at whatever she put her hand to and a talented seamstress and artist. 

Helen was a devoted and supportive wife to Calvin, whom she affectionately labeled " the best husband she ever had.” They experienced sixty-seven years of happiness together, raising their children and tackling what most would consider to be daunting home renovation projects. While serving her family, Helen enjoyed traveling, visiting numerous gardens, and hiking in Colorado with her husband, children, and eventually her grandchildren. She was also an avid gardener, making every available inch of soil a blooming oasis.
