Hazel Reed

December 21, 1917 — April 10, 2020

Hazel Perkins Reed was born Decemer 21, 1917 to Mitchell and Ethel Cooper Perkins near Roaring River State Park, Barry County Missouri. When a small child she moved with her family to rural Thayer, Kansas. In 1929 the family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and later to rural Copan, Oklahoma. She attended Copan High School graduating with the class of 1936.

She married Virgil Warren Reed in Bartlesville, March 6, 1948. To this union were born two children, a son Ronald Alan Reed (Ronnie) who died with polio in the epidemic of 1952, and a daughter LeeAnn.

In addition to her son, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Everett, Chester, Adrin and Darwin Perkins and her sister Dorothy Ruth Perkins, and her husband Virgil Reed.

She is survived by her daughter LeeAnn and husband Gary Howard of Lowry Crossing, Texas, three grandchildren; Neal Howard, Brian Howard, and Sarah Howard, and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews and nieces.

She was employed by Phillips Petroleum for several years. She became a member of the Copan Methodist Church in 1941, transferring to the Dewey Methodist Church in 1995.

She moved to New Hope with her husband in 2014 to be close to their daughter.

She passed away April 10, 2020, and will be interred with her husband, next to their son Ronnie at Memorial Park in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at a later date.
